NBA Dunks of the Year

We are not even through a third of the NBA season, yet we have seen some impressive dunks so far - from Blake Griffin's "Superman" dunk to the emotional throwdown by point guard Russell Westbrook. Here are my top seven dunks of the year:

7. McGee with the one-handed Hammer-Slam!

Not only was Wizards' center JaVale McGee pushed by 76ers' Elton Brand, but somehow, he was able to dunk the ball! A very underrated dunk this year.

6. Holler, Russell Westbrook!

Russell Westbrook, all six feet and three inches of him, was able to go baseline and slam that put-back attempt, viciously.

5. Tyrus Thomas, meet DeMar DeRozen and his DUNK!

The building looked so empty in Charlotte that I bet fans sitting in the 400-level seats could hear the monster dunk over TT.

4. Derrick Rose and his Two-Hand Tomahawk

Rose is one of the fiercest dunkers in the game today - none of his dunks have been as spectacular as this one against the Knicks a month ago.

3. J.J. Hickson, Meet James Harden!

What's better than this coast-to-coast dunk by Thunder forward James Harden is his beard! Heck, it could rival ex-Wizard DeShawn Stevenson's beard back when he was a teammate of Gilbert Arenas:

Man, that beard looks menacing!

2. JR Beating the Buzzer

A BRAND-NEW addition to the top 7 comes this dunk that happened in the game between the Denver Nuggets and the red-hot San Antonio Spurs. GET OUTTA THE WAY, GARY NEAL!

1. Blake Griffin, the Man-Child!

No team has been posterized more than the New York Knicks, who share two of the top seven dunks this year. And Blake Griffin, after having surgery on his left knee last year - has been reborn and a menace in the paint! It finally gives me a reason to watch the woeful Wizards play host to this young franchise, the Clippers - and to see how many times Griffin can dunk over JaVale McGee!
