Les Miles... The Mad Hatter

The turning point of the #6 Alabama - #10 LSU game occurred when there was ten minutes left in the fourth quarter, with the Crimson Tide leading 14-13. The Tigers had just come up short on a third-down run - resulting in a fourth-and-one around the Tide 20-yard-line. That's when the 'Mad Hatter' once again pulled a rabbit out of his hat. The common play would be to tack on the field goal and lead by two.

But instead, Les Miles pulled a trick play - as usual Les - having the running back receive the handoff, take two steps forward, and then lateral/handoff to the wide receiver running a reverse - the play worked to perfection, with the LSU wide receiver stepping out at the three-yard-line:

The Tigers scored on a run, and made the two-point conversion to lead 21-14. They then sacked quarterback Greg McElroy, resulting in a fumble recovery by the Tigers - who then tacked on a field goal to lead 24-14.

The Tide then made a drive of their own, which ended in a 15-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Julio Jones - 24-21 LSU. But it was too little, too late.
